About Us

James R. Marsh

Licensed in New York and Washington, DC, I am a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, an experienced trial attorney and publisher of The Adoption and Child Welfare Law Reporter(tm). I am the founder, former executive director and current board member of the nationally recognized Children's Law Center in Washington, DC which received the Outstanding Legal Advocacy Award during my tenure. I recently completed a senior fellowship at the Center for Adoption Research at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

I have represented hundreds of clients adoption, civil rights, RICO, Title IX, §1983, special education, child welfare, custody, visitation and paternity proceedings before state and federal trial and appellate courts. I now largely limit my legal advocacy to victims of child trafficking, exploitation and pornography at The Marsh Law Firm PLLC in New York.

I have appeared on CourtTV, CNN, Nancy Grace and The O’Reilly Factor as a commentator on children's law and adoption issues. I have been quoted in the Washington Post, Washington Times, Albany Times Union, New York Post, Boston Globe and American Bar Association Journal. I have also appeared as a guest columnist for FindLaw's online legal commentary Writ.

I am a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association, National Crime Victim Bar Association, National Association of Counsel for Children, District of Columbia Bar Association, and New York State Bar Association.

A longtime technology expert, I have spoken on Technology Fundamentals for Attorneys; Document Management: Best Practices and Technology Solutions; and Records Retention Management in the Digital Age: A Key Element in Minimizing Liability.
